·         This course studies some of the most important aspects of the evolution of the Georgian civilization in the broad regional and transregional context, from the Ancient period to the Modern historical period, and some interpretive issues regarding major events and problems in Georgian civilization. It has an interdisciplinary component that seeks to integrate the study of culture with the social and political history of Caucasian Georgia.

·         The course also emphasizes geography as it relates to Georgian history.

·         This course will prepare the student to engage with important political, social, and cultural topics in Georgian Historical literature as well as to help develop critical analytical skills to be used in evaluating them.  

·         This course will use lectures, readings, discussions, and images to try as best as possible within 15 weeks to create a portrait of a complex and fascinating historical periods, introduce students with some of the major milestones of Georgian Civilization.
